The Office of Planning and Budget (OPB), advises the dean and provides analysis and information to improve the university in all planning and policy formulation. The OPB is also responsible for planning and allocation of financial and physical resources to help the University fulfill its mission.
2011 Strategic Office Plan University of Washington Overview
The overall strategy for the Office of Planning and Budget can be summarized in two words: "construction capacity. "We are building internal capacity to fulfill our role and responsibilities within the expanded University. The output of our collective work products remains a fundamental and new initiatives training through the University. Our success in this broader sense of empowerment will be defined by our continued delivery of our four main efforts of several years of strategic planning:
Activity Based Budgeting, A Capital Plan, the Campus Planning UW Living and comprehensive data management and reports. Our success in implementing these initiatives, while still providing the essential role of construction of operationof the University and capital budgets, negotiating with the state, and so on will University greater understanding of their resource base, and the best way to invest on this basis to maximum return for our research, instructional and public service missions.
The OPB is administered by the Vice Chancellor of Planning and Budget, has five operating units:

- Institutional Research and Data Management
- University Architect & Campus Planning
